There are many different types of present you can buy for someone who is celebrating a 50th birhday, but a driving activity must be one of the most adrenalin filled you can choose. |
Whether the birthday boy or girl normally drives a Polo or a Porsche with the many driving activites available ther is sure to be one that gets the blood pumping and gives them a fun filled time that they will always remember over the years to come. So what driving activity should you choose?

Firstly you need to decide on what sort of budget you want to spend. For this article we are going to look at activities and experiences up to about £120.00 but you can spend quite a bit more than this with an Aston Martin Driving experience costing £299.00 and the ultimate single seater driving experience, which includes 10 laps in an ex-F1 Arrows car along with laps in a Porsche 911 Turbo, Ferarri 360 and a Formula 3 racing car costing just under £1500.00!!
This said, with our budget of £120.00 there are a vast array of options available. If the birthday boy or girl like Supercars then they can drive a Porsche 996 Turbo for around £99.00 or feel the pure strength and pull that 492 brake horse power can produce while behind the wheel of a Lamborghini Gallardo which travels from 0-60mphin just over 4 seconds for a discounted price of £69.00. Other cars available for under the budget include ferarri 360s and an Aston Martin.

| If you feel they might like a little more roughness to there driving then how about a Skid Control driving experience? This experience will teach how to control a skid on ice and water and will not only be great fun but could help them in a real life driving situation one day. They can also have an introduction to drifting or drive a Mitsubishi Lancer EVO to really get the heart racing. Skid and drifting experiences cost between £110-120.00 with the Evo experience just £65.00. |
If the above does not seem their thing you could offer a session learning to drive a 4x4 with a fully qualified instructor or they could have a half day 4x4 driving experience which will go in to much more detail and be great fun.

I tried this experience myself and along with 23 other people spent a couple of hours racing great little dumper trucks. Put in to groups of four we raced against each other driving through obstacle courses and generally had a fantastic time in this great little vehicles. After the fun there was a prize giving for the fastest overall driver who had also missed the most obstacles. That I am afraid was far too boring as most of us found it great fun driving over anything in our way which everybody found extremey funny. Best of all Dumper Truck racing costs less than £50.00 so it is also one of the most affordable driving experiences available.
Most people of any age would enjoy a driving experience as a present but as a 50th birthday gift these are superb presents allowing a bit more driving fun than we are all allowed on the road. |
